Picture it & Write/ I Miss You

I walked passed your door last week, it’s been years since you stood there smiling at me. I miss the days when we just talked while sitting out on the fire escape watching the world we knew pass by.

In the whispers of this dead end street I can still hear your voice shouting down to me. ” I love you.”  I would look up to see your smiling face and knew we were forever.

I sit here remembering us, in the first place we kissed, confessing our love. It seemed like yesterday that I spoke those words to you and you said you would always protect me.

The day you left  broke my heart. You were always so brave, when everyone ran, you stood there doing what you said you would do. You protected me. How I miss you,  I hope you found a better place my love.

My children asked me why I continue to come out here on the fire escape. I confessed, so I won’t forget loving you.

You are long gone, but I can’t move on. You are the patch of blue in my darken skies, the love of my life. I still miss you.
